RKU Admission Policies
Rudolph Kwanue University (RKU) is committed to providing equal access to quality higher education for qualified applicants. The Office of Admissions, Records, and Registration is responsible for processing applications, evaluating admission requirements, maintaining student records, and providing information on the University’s admission policies and procedures.
General Admission Requirements
Applicants seeking admission to RKU must submit the following:
- A completed admission application form.
- Two letters of recommendation (one from the last school attended and one from a pastor or recognized community leader).
- The original High School Diploma and one photocopy.
- The original West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE/WAEC) certificate and one photocopy.
- An official High School Transcript in a sealed envelope.
- Three recent passport-size photographs.
- Payment of the prescribed non-refundable application fee.
Transfer Admission Policy
Students transferring from recognized colleges, universities, or technical institutions in Liberia or abroad may apply for admission by submitting:
- A letter requesting transfer admission.
- A completed RKU admission application form.
- Two letters of recommendation (one from the previous institution and one from a recognized community leader).
- An official transcript sent directly to the Office of Admissions.
- Three recent passport-size photographs.
- Payment of the prescribed non-refundable application fee.
All transfer applications are reviewed by the Academic Affairs Committee. Successful applicants will receive an official admission letter indicating the transfer credits approved by the University.
Transfer Credit Policy
- Transfer credits are accepted only from accredited institutions.
- Applicants must have completed at least 15 credit hours.
- A maximum of 70 credit hours may be transferred to RKU.
- Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 (Grade C) or its equivalent.
Categories of Students
Regular Student
A student enrolled for 12 or more credit hours in a diploma or degree program.
Part-Time Student
A student enrolled for fewer than 12 credit hours.
Transfer Student
A student admitted from another recognized institution with approved transfer credits.
Auditing Student
A student permitted to attend classes without earning academic credit.
Remedial Student
A student required to complete remedial courses before enrolling in regular academic courses.
Special Student
A non-degree student admitted to take specific courses. A Special Student must:
- Be a high school graduate.
- Register for no more than two courses per semester.
- Not be enrolled in a diploma or degree program.
- Apply through the regular admission process if later seeking admission into a diploma or degree program.
Special Students are not eligible to hold office in student organizations or officially represent Rudolph Kwanue University.
